Sydney’s new summer venue for outdoor events
Sydney has a long-held tradition of celebrating summer nights with outdoor music events.
Whether it be a symphony under the stars, Carols in the Domain, or a duo playing The Garden in Hyde Park, come summer, Sydney-siders like to have their evenings booked - and they’re interested in a spectrum of musical events, catering to a broad range of age groups and interests.
With that in mind, The Village Green exists as a temporary, purpose-built venue hosting a wide variety of performances. It’s not programmed by a single group, with a singular objective in mind; it’s a boutique aesthetic, and its appeal lies in its adaptability.
Providing promoters, booking agents and touring companies with full event infrastructure and top-tier production, industry stalwarts Architects of Entertainment (“AoE”) have turned a previously unused parcel of land in Sydney’s Inner West, into a fully licensed venue purpose built for outdoor live music.
“While we’ve been involved in some of Australia’s biggest outdoor events, smaller spaces have always been more enticing for us,” says co-owner Nathaniel Holmes.
“They provide far less impact on the surrounding environments, which allows us to focus on patron experience, and on getting the details just right. The Village Green is intimate and enchanting, while still being able to accommodate different sized productions, and we think audiences of all types will feel welcome here."
After almost 2 years of restrictions in Australia, audiences are more than ready for the return of live music. Thanks to the Village Green, they now have the perfect space to experience it.
“Turning live music to spaces that aren’t traditionally used as music venues is AoE’s stock in trade, and finding not just any green space but the right green space, close to the city, is always challenging,” says venue co-owner Haydn Johnston. “We’re always on the lookout for a unique, visually pleasing locale, and the Village Green happens to be both those things. The experience of being completely enveloped by nature, with the city just outside, is quite special. And being so close to my home in the Inner West makes it a bit more special for us as well."
The Village Green is set to pop up at Tempe Recreation Reserve in Sydney’s Inner West from Friday 21 January to Sunday 27 February.
Stay tuned for the Village Green’s lineup announcement coming soon.
